LEA ROBACK FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS

The objective of the Lea Roback Foundation is to promote education as a means of fulfillment and emancipation for all, and to offer financial assistance to women residing in Québec who wish to pursue their education. In November 1994, the Lea Roback Foundation awarded its first scholarship.

Every year since then, the Foundation has issued scholarships (to a maximum value of $3,500). In fact, since 1994, a total of 174 scholarships have been given to women who are socially committed but economically disadvantaged. Living in every region of Québec, the scholarship recipients reflect Québec society’s ethno cultural diversity.

Their commitment is demonstrated in a wide variety of organizations and sectors:

Women’s centre, co-operatives, women’s shelters, unions, housing committees, soup kitchens, student associations, community radio, women’s health, non-traditional jobs, education, anti-violence activities, the environment, the social economy, mutual assistance in mental health, defence of social rights, regional development, etc.

They pursue studies at many educational levels and in a diversity of areas:

Literacy training, trades, high school and CEGEP studies (technical and general) and university programs.

The Foundation awards scholarships only once a year.
Both the application form and a description of the eligibility criteria are available on the Web site beginning on 2013 March 1.
Applications must be sent to the Foundation no later than 2013 May 1.
